THE SCHOOL OF FIRST STATE BALLET THEATRE
Get your dancer off on the right foot! The school you choose for your child to take their first steps matters. The School of FSBT supports your child's growth with a structured approach to technical and artistic development that will set the stage for their future.
Established in 1999, the School of First State Ballet Theatre offers ballet training to students from age four through adults. Our curriculum is based on the Vaganova syllabus of classical Russian ballet - a progressive system of training that concentrates on building strength and flexibility while minimizing the risk of injury.
Our spacious studios are housed at the beautiful and historic Grand Opera House in downtown Wilmington.
Students of FSBT have been accepted at the JKO School of American Ballet Theatre, Houston Ballet Academy, Kirov Academy, Harid Conservatory, Boston Ballet School and Ellison Ballet, as well as many summer programs, including American Ballet Theatre (NYC), the School of American Ballet, Kirov Academy, Ballet West, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Houston Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet.
FSBT graduates have gone on to dance professionally with Festival Ballet Providence, Milwaukee Ballet, Alabama Ballet, Philadelphia Ballet, Staatsballett Berlin, Washington Ballet, Universal Ballet, Ballet du Capitole, Tulsa Ballet and First State Ballet Theatre.
